Dumpster Rental Sorgho KY
Roll-off dumpsters for Sorgho, west of Owensboro: family-home cleanouts, kitchen and bath remodels, yard projects and parish events.
Sorgho is an unincorporated community in western Daviess County with ZIP code 42334. The 2020 census counted 1,972 residents in about 4.75 square miles, living in roughly 700 households. The median age was 39.2, and nearly 29 percent of residents were under 18, so this is a community of families with school-age children, sports schedules and full garages. Ninety percent of residents live in an urban setting, which means more subdivisions and fewer farms than you might expect from the name.

From Dog Trot to a sugar town
The community was first known as Dog Trot. Its modern name comes from the Daviess County Sorgho Sugar Company, formed in 1868 and 1869 by Dr. J. Q. A. Stewart, J. Balee and E. Guthrie to process sorghum cane into sugar. The community began to develop after that factory was established, and in 1874 a county order by Judge Triplett designated a voting precinct called Sorghotown Voting Place. The factory is long gone, but its legacy is the name on the road signs, and the farmland around Sorgho still reflects that agricultural start.
Projects we see in Sorgho
- Whole-home cleanouts. Family homes accumulate belongings in garages, basements and attic spaces. A 15-yard is the usual choice for a single-family house.
- Kitchen and bath remodels. Cabinets, counters, flooring and drywall from interior updates fit a 10-yard.
- Yard cleanup and landscaping. Brush, sod, old fencing and shrubs. Keep soil out of the pile or tell us how much there is, since dirt is heavy.
- Playsets, sheds and above-ground pools. Replacing a backyard play area or removing a worn-out pool produces bulky metal, plastic and treated lumber.
- Moving and downsizing. Families heading in or out of Sorgho often need a 15-yard for the pre-move sort.
- Parish and school events. Picnics and fundraisers around the St. Mary Magdalene grounds are a good fit for an event dumpster.
A sample Sorgho job
A household is remodeling a kitchen and two bathrooms, replacing flooring throughout the first floor, and clearing out a garage that has not been sorted in years. All told it is about a week of demolition followed by a longer stretch of rebuilding. A 15-yard holds the demolition debris plus the garage, and the homeowner can keep it for the entire first phase. The price is $300 to $450. If the plan includes ripping out a tile floor, we would mention the weight and might suggest a 10-yard for the tile alone.
Placement in a family neighborhood
Most Sorgho homes have standard driveways. Our containers are about 7.5 feet wide, which fits a normal driveway, and we recommend pavement or compacted gravel rather than lawn. Keep the container clear of mailboxes, low branches and parked cars, and leave room behind the truck. If the driveway is shared or the lot is tight, the permit page and our note on leaving a dumpster on the street overnight explain the options. Neighbors often split a larger container, which is a sensible way to share the cost of a 20-yard during a neighborhood cleanup weekend.
Three jobs, three sizes
Selling a family home. When a household in a subdivision of ranch and two-story houses prepares to sell, the pattern is predictable: the garage, the basement and the spare bedroom hold most of the clutter. Three or four days of sorting fills a 15-yard, and the cost is $300 to $450. If an estate sale has already taken the furniture, a 10-yard may be enough.
Replacing a backyard. A play set, a worn fence and a sagging shed come out together, and sod or gravel goes in. This job produces treated lumber, metal posts and plastic. A 15-yard covers it, and because the material is bulky rather than heavy, the weight allowance is rarely an issue.
Remodeling a first floor. Flooring, baseboards, a kitchen and a half-bath. With drywall and cabinets, this is often a 20-yard job, especially if the contractor will keep the container for a few weeks. The price is $400 to $550.
What goes in, and how it weighs
In a family neighborhood the main materials are household goods, carpet and padding, drywall, cabinets, lumber and yard debris. Carpet and padding are bulky but light, and cabinets are awkward and take up volume, so break them down. Drywall is heavier than it looks, especially when it is wet. Appliances are allowed, but remove doors from refrigerators and tell us if any contain refrigerant, since those need special handling before disposal. The weight limits page lists how our allowances work, and the accepted items page is the final word on what to leave out.
Neighborhood cleanup weekends
A cul-de-sac or street that decides to clean up together can save money. One 30-yard at $500 to $650, placed at a central driveway and filled by six households, costs each one less than a separate rental. Agree on a single delivery address, a start and end time, and a person who supervises what goes in. You can reach us by phone Monday through Saturday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., and we can help you plan the logistics.
What about school and sports season?
With nearly three in ten residents under 18, expect weekends to be busy with games and school activities. Deliveries are easiest on weekdays, so book early if your project falls on a major event weekend.
Sizes and costs
A bathroom or small kitchen fits a 10-yard ($250 to $350). A full-house cleanout fits a 15-yard ($300 to $450) or a 20-yard ($400 to $550). For a roof replacement, the roof tear-off guide explains why weight matters as much as volume. The size guide has pictures and examples for every container.
Questions from Sorgho customers
Is Sorgho a long drive from your yard?
Sorgho is west of Owensboro, so we treat it as a scheduled delivery. We will confirm a window when you call.
Can I share a dumpster with a neighbor?
Yes. Many people split the cost of a larger container. Keep it to one delivery address, and make sure both households follow the prohibited-items list.
What should I keep out of my Sorgho dumpster?
No paint, solvents, batteries or tires. See what can and cannot go in a dumpster for details.
Can children’s playsets and trampolines go in?
Yes. Take trampolines apart first so the springs and frame lie flat, and cut up any long pieces.
