Junk Removal Dumpster Rental in Owensboro, KY
Fill a roll-off at your own pace for garage, basement, furniture and yard junk cleanouts. Delivery and pickup included.
A junk removal dumpster rental is the do-it-yourself version of junk hauling. Instead of paying a crew to load a truck, you keep a roll-off container at your property, fill it on your own schedule and call us when it is done. People in Owensboro use this for garage cleanouts, basement clear-outs, old furniture, fencing, carpet, yard debris and the leftovers from small remodels. This page explains who it suits, which size to pick for each kind of job, what it costs, what stays out of the container and how a rental runs from first call to pickup.
The honest comparison: dumpster or junk crew?
A container gives you space and disposal for a set rental period, and you supply the labor. A hauling crew supplies the labor, and you pay for it. Neither is always cheaper. Our dumpster rental vs. junk removal comparison covers the trade-offs in a table, and the short version follows.
When a dumpster makes more sense
- The volume is more than a few truckloads, or the cleanout will take several days.
- You want to sort as you go and decide item by item what stays.
- You have a renovation or project that creates debris over time.
- You can lift and carry the items yourself, or you have helpers.
When a junk crew is the better call
- You have a single small load, such as one sofa and a mattress.
- You cannot physically lift heavy items, and you have no one to help.
- You need it gone the same day with no loading on your part.
- The job is so small that even our 6-yard container would be more than you need.
If you are unsure, call +1 (270) 552-0098. We would rather tell you a crew is the right fit than rent you a container you do not need.
Four common junk cleanouts and the sizes that fit them
Our pricing guide lists each size by typical use, and these examples follow it.
Garage and accumulated clutter
Garages collect lumber scraps, old tools, boxes, bikes and furniture that never got moved. A 10-yard ($250 to $350) suits one bay or a single room; a 15-yard ($300 to $450) is the size we list for garage and basement cleanouts. Sort out paint cans, solvents and batteries before you load, because those cannot go in the container.
Moving out or downsizing
A household moving to a smaller home produces furniture, bedding, small appliances and boxes. A 15-yard or 20-yard ($400 to $550) fits most of it. In Southeast Owensboro, where ranch homes often come with a full basement and a two-car garage, a downsizing household can fill a larger container than the floor plan suggests. See Southeast Owensboro for an example.
Leftovers after a renovation
After a remodel, there is often a pile of trim, flooring scraps, drywall pieces and old fixtures. A 10-yard covers a kitchen or bath’s leftovers; a 20-yard suits a whole-house update. Drywall, tile and plaster add weight, so tell us what you have when you book. The weight guide explains how.
Large or hoarded properties
When a property has years of accumulation, volume is far greater than the size of the house suggests. Plan for a 30-yard ($500 to $650) or 40-yard ($650 to $795) and expect to need a swap. Gloves, sturdy shoes and a dust mask are sensible. Describe the situation honestly when you call, and see our estate cleanout guide for the planning steps.
What counts as junk
Household furniture, mattresses, boxes, toys, clothing, carpet and padding, small appliances, broken fixtures, old fencing, deck boards, drywall and general garage clutter all go in. Concrete, brick, dirt and roofing are accepted but priced and sized by weight. Sort out anything worth donating or selling before you load, since once an item is in the container it is going to disposal.
What stays out
- Never accepted: paint, stains and solvents, motor oil and fuel, pesticides, car batteries, propane tanks and pressurized cylinders, medical waste and asbestos-containing material.
- Conditions apply: refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners need their refrigerant removed first. Mattresses may carry a per-item facility fee. Tires are usually limited to a small quantity, and TVs and electronics depend on the facility for large volumes. Ask when you book.
- Medications do not belong in a dumpster. Use a pharmacy or health-department take-back program.
Household hazardous waste goes through Daviess County’s program, which includes a periodic Tox Away Day. The accepted items list has the rest.
Pricing
Quotes include delivery, pickup and a standard rental period of 7 to 10 days, and longer rentals cost more. Fuel surcharges are not added. Debris hauling and disposal are part of the rental. You pay for the size and period you book, not for how full the container ends up.
- 6-yard: $200 to $300
- 10-yard: $250 to $350
- 15-yard: $300 to $450
- 20-yard: $400 to $550
- 30-yard: $500 to $650
- 40-yard: $650 to $795
We state the container’s weight limit before delivery. If you go over, overage is charged by the ton at a rate disclosed upfront. The pricing guide explains the factors.
Same-day delivery
Sometimes. Same-day delivery depends on container availability, truck scheduling, the size you need, your location and how many deliveries are already booked. We do not promise it on every call, but when the schedule allows we say so right away. Have the address, the project type, a rough estimate of the amount, the size if you know it and where the container should sit ready when you call. If it is not possible, we will give you the next realistic window. See the same-day page.
How a junk dumpster rental works
1. Call or request a quote. Describe what you are clearing, roughly how much and where the container should go.
2. Pick the size. We match it to the project, not to whatever is on the lot. Heavy material is sized by weight.
3. Schedule delivery. Standard delivery typically happens within a day or two of booking, and you get a delivery window by text or call.
4. Placement check. We confirm driveway width, overhead clearance and whether the container can sit on private property. If it must go on the street, a permit may be required; see the permit page.
5. Load at your own pace. You do not need to be home for delivery, and the driver sends a photo once it is set.
6. Call for pickup. When you are done or the rental period ends, we schedule the pickup.
7. Disposal. We haul the debris to the appropriate facility for its type.

Sorting Before the Container Arrives
A junk cleanout goes faster when the sorting happens first. Make three piles before delivery: what goes in the container, what can be donated and what has to be handled separately. Furniture, clothing and household goods in good shape are worth donating, and our spring cleaning guide covers what to set aside. Paint, fuels, solvents and other liquids cannot go in any container, so keep them out of the garage pile entirely.
Mattresses, Appliances and Electronics
These are the items people ask about most:
- Mattresses and box springs: generally accepted, though some disposal facilities charge a per-item fee, so mention how many you have.
- Refrigerators, freezers and AC units: accepted once the refrigerant has been removed.
- Other large appliances: accepted as a standard load when they contain no refrigerant.
- TVs and electronics: facility-dependent for large volumes, so tell us the count.
- Tires: often limited to a small quantity.
- Car batteries: not accepted. Most auto parts stores take them free.
The full list is in our accepted items guide.
Junk dumpster questions
Can I fill a dumpster with just furniture?
Yes. Furniture is bulky and light, so volume decides the size. Break down large pieces to save space.
Should I rent small and make two trips?
Almost never. A second delivery and pickup typically costs more than going up a size.
What if I do not fill it?
Nothing extra is charged and nothing is refunded. The price is set by the container and rental period.
What if I need a second container mid-project?
Call when the first is full. We can pick it up and bring an empty one, usually the same day or the next.
Can the dumpster sit on the grass?
A firm, level surface is best. Soft or uneven ground can make placement and pickup harder, so tell us your surface when you book.
Can I move it once it is placed?
Not by hand; a loaded container can only be repositioned with the truck, so call us.
Will rain affect it?
The container sits outside in normal weather. Rain adds weight to porous material such as drywall and wood, which matters near the weight limit.
Do I need a contract?
A standard rental does not need a long-term contract. We confirm the size, delivery window and period when you book.
What if my plans change?
Call as soon as you know. We would rather reschedule than deliver to a project that is not ready.
Is the container clean when it arrives?
Every container is cleaned and checked before it goes out. Call us if one arrives in worse shape.
