Dumpster Rental Thruston KY
Roll-off dumpsters for Thruston, northeast of Owensboro: pre-sale cleanouts, reroofing, remodels and tenant turnovers on suburban lots.
Thruston is an unincorporated community northeast of Owensboro, named for Algernon Sidney Thruston, a veteran of the Texas Revolution who owned a plantation in the area. The 2020 census counted 2,234 residents in only 1.77 square miles. Ninety-six percent of them live in an urban setting, the median age is 34.7 and there are 793 households sharing 845 housing units. For a community outside the city limits, that is dense, and it makes Thruston feel much more like an Owensboro neighborhood than like the farm towns farther out.
We deliver dumpsters to Thruston regularly. This page explains how the density affects placement, what projects dominate and how to size a container for them.

How a dense community changes the job
Outside the cities, most Daviess County dumpster jobs have room to spare. Thruston is the exception. Driveways are closer to the street, neighbors’ lines are a few feet away and utility lines run along most lots. That does not make delivery hard, but it does mean we ask more questions. How wide is the driveway? Are there overhead wires between the road and the spot? Is there a car that usually parks there? Is there a mailbox or a tree limb that hangs low? If you can answer those questions on the phone, delivery usually goes smoothly. If not, a photo of the driveway sent by text lets our driver plan in advance.
Projects we see in Thruston
- Pre-sale cleanouts. Emptying a home before listing it. A 15-yard or 20-yard covers most houses.
- Roof replacement. Shingle tear-offs on homes that were built a few decades ago. See roofing dumpsters and the tear-off guide.
- Kitchen, bath and flooring updates. Cabinets, tile, carpet and drywall.
- Fence and deck removal. Treated lumber and posts. Keep concrete footings separate, because weight matters.
- Tenant turnover. Rental homes often need a quick cleanout between tenants. Our landlord turnover guide has a checklist.
- Tree and storm cleanup. Trees close to houses mean limb removal after wind. See storm debris cleanup.
A sample Thruston job
A landlord has a three-bedroom house that has just been vacated. The tenant left furniture, a mattress, a refrigerator and bags of clothing, and the carpet is worn out. The landlord wants it clean and ready by the end of the week. A 15-yard fits the contents and the carpet, and the job takes two days. The cost is $300 to $450. If the refrigerator is still working, the landlord might consider listing it for free pickup instead of paying for the weight.
Fitting a container on a suburban lot
Our containers are about 7.5 feet wide. Length depends on size, with the smaller ones fitting a single-car driveway and the largest needing the length of two parked cars. Measure before you decide. Keep the container off the sidewalk and away from overhead wires and low branches. If the only spot is the street, read the permit requirements and your neighborhood rules, and remember our note on leaving a container on the street overnight. A private driveway is always the easiest option.
Sizes and costs
Most Thruston customers choose a 10-yard ($250 to $350) for a room or a garage. A whole house or a roof calls for a 15-yard ($300 to $450) or a 20-yard ($400 to $550). Larger remodels with a lot of demolition may need a 30-yard ($500 to $650). The size guide gives examples for each, and the FAQ page answers common questions about rental length and pricing.
Questions from Thruston customers
How close is Thruston to your yard?
It is one of our closest suburban areas. Same-day delivery is sometimes possible when a truck is free, so call early.
What if my neighbors object to a dumpster?
Let them know the dates beforehand. Most neighbors do not mind a container for a week or two, and placing it on your driveway rather than the street avoids most complaints.
Can I put a refrigerator or air conditioner in?
Appliances are allowed. If they contain refrigerant, tell us, because they require special handling before disposal.
What about yard waste only?
A yard waste container is the right choice for limbs and brush, and it keeps your costs down.
